Always good, even after 20 years! I love this place. The last time I went was 20 years ago and it hasn't changed. It seems like time stood still and the staff/place is as good as it ever was. I have moved up to Northern California and it is worth the 8 hours drive. I would drive back for the $1 dollar salad.

It's a small restaurant and can get crowded. We tend to eat at the counter. It's fun to watch them cook the dishes. I'm a creature of habit and always order the same dish - Bottarga. It's a simple dish but so flavorful. My husband tends to order the Napolitano. We can't vouch for the other dishes but these two are delicious! You can find street parking if there are no available spots in the lot behind the restaurant. Enjoy!

After trying Pasta e Pasta by Allegro in Little Tokyo, I wanted to try this place since the food was similar. I ordered the Japanese clam sauce pasta with shiitake mushroom and the uni pasta with seaweed. It did take me a while to get home, so the pasta wasn't as hot. I remember at Pasta e Pasta by Allegro, they put foil to keep the pasta hot. This place should do that for takeout. The favorite of the two was the Japanese clam sauce pasta. The uni pasta was a little lackluster as it didn't have that much uni flavor. Next time I would dine in because I could see the pasta having great potential!

Spoon House is fun fusion restaurant for folks who like pasta and Japanese home cooked foods on top of pasta. The space family friendly, comfy booths in the back, and colorful decor. Friendly hosts and staff team. Food was yummy, flavorful herbs and al dente pasta, yet very few plant-based options or non pasta dishes and drink options.

Food: this is a must try place in South Bay, you really can't miss out on it if you're visiting the area! I've been coming here since elementary school, and it tastes so so so good every single time. The free baguette appetizer is amazingly soft inside and pairs well with butter. My favorite is the original seafood gratin, which takes a little longer (20 minutes) to prepare, but it's hot steamy and creamy and filled with delicious bits of shrimp and pasta, ugh you really need to try. My close second favorite is Japanese style cod roe pasta with squid and seaweed in spicy sauce (but does not actually taste spicy lol), I'm a sucker for anything cod roe hehe. I've also tried barca d'oro, clam sauce, white sauce, mushroom and sea urchin, carbonara, hot garlic, avocado cream cheese (I might as well be naming the whole menu at this point), and everything, I mean everything, is absolutely delicious and did not disappoint Price: around $11-15 per pasta dish, which is super fair pricing for such great pasta, the portion is perfect, leaves me full but not uncomfortable Ambiance: small corner restaurant, outside is painted in iconic true blue color with big red bear logo, the inside is clean and cozy. They have bar areas in the front and next to the kitchen, small 3-5 ish tables. It can get really busy here, especially given the small limited space, but well worth the wait Service: nice japanese waitresses, they're so nice and friendly and attentive, they never fuss about me asking for more bread or butter. The chef who cooks in the kitchen is super cool, very good at his job for sure, so efficient, it's so fun watching him work Parking: there's a free parking lot on the back side of the restaurant building, turn into Denker Ave. I can usually find a space here or just residential street parking when it's full, no issues here
