I checked this place out for their purple rice fan tuan and it did not disappoint. I also got some other items on their menu, which were all solid but nothing special. I do want to mention that their peanut drink and beef roll with pickles are yummy. There is no dine in, only pickup. CASH ONLY!!

Huge Tree Pastry is a Taiwanese breakfast spot serving Chinese donuts, soy milk, and savory "pastries." The dining room is currently closed, so order at the window. Remember to bring cash. Fan Tuan: The fan tuan is a Chinese breakfast burrito where the wrapper is a layer of rice. Go with the purple jasmine rice. It's a bold option with very different soft and firm textures. It also has a nuttier flavor. The Chinese donut (You Tiao) is a savory cruller that adds crispiness. They pull out all the stops with their other fillings. The pickled mustard greens are sweet and tangy. The pork floss threads are light, crispy, and delicate. The fried egg is a nice touch as it adds flavor and heft. Get a bowl of salty soy milk and a crispy you tiao for dunking. A cup of cold, sweet, soy milk is refreshing. If you get a large cup, it's basically the size of a Big Gulp. Dining Area: Unfortunately, the dining area is closed so you have to eat everything in the parking lot of you can't wait. Parking: The lot is large and stress-free.

They're closed until the 16th of March. I went today hoping to catch them but they were closed. Just wanted to leave this here so no one else accidentally goes.

A great Taiwanese breakfast place in Monterey Park! It's a quaint little establishment located in a plaza, accompanied with cute pigeons that hover over you on the roof. It's take-out only currently as of February 2024 and the staff seem to have the process down. It's cash only, too. We ordered at the door and waited about 5-10 minutes for 5 items. We got the Pan Fried Green Onion Pancake $4.75, Pork & Vegetable Bun $1.99, Pan Fried Radish Cake with Egg (4 Pieces) $6.75, the Taiwanese Donut (You Tiao) $2.25, and a hot sweet soy milk. My boyfriend and I couldn't wait and ate most of the Taiwanese Donut on the way home because it was piping hot, and enjoyed the rest of the rest of the items at home. All of the items were hot and had a great first 'bite' but got a little less flavorful as I ate it. I was a little disappointed with the Pan Fried Green Onion Pancake because it was a little overdone and dried out. All the other items made up for it though! My favorite thing was the sweet soy milk, it had the perfectly velvety feel to it when I drank it and was sweetened just how I like it. The item I forgot to get is the fan tuan (a rice roll), which seems to be a fan favorite when I reference some pictures. I'll definitely go back to get another sweet soymilk and to try out their fan tuan.

My gf showed me this place and now it's my favorite spot to go on Sunday mornings after hitting the gym across the street. Can get super packed but the line moves quick. Always get a fan Tuan with purple rice, pickles, and an egg for that extra protein. Sometimes we share a sweetened iced soy milk and it's perfect. 10/10

This is America's most famous destination for Taiwanese breakfast. Huge Tree Pastry is a cash-only, takeout-only spot in LA's San Gabriel Valley. My must-order items: -The fan tuan is essentially a Taiwanese breakfast burrito, wrapped in purple rice, and stuffed with pork floss, egg, pickles, and fried you tiao, a savory Chinese donut. The youtiao seemed a little stale which was my only criticism. -Get extra youtiao with sweet soy milk to dip and sip on the side. -The beef roll might just be my favorite item here, with pickled mustard greens wrapped in a scallion pancake. -The shoabing is a flaky sesame flatbread filled with fluffy scrambled eggs. -The mustard green pork bun is the perfect combination of savory and tangy flavors in each bite.
